Cowboy romance sells a specific and durable fantasy: a man whose feelings are enormous and whose vocabulary is not. Everything he cannot say goes into what he does, which means the reader learns to translate labour into declaration. Fixing her fence is a love letter. Breaking a horse gently is a character reference.
The setting earns its keep because the work is real and the weather does not negotiate. Storms, calving season, a truck that will not start at the worst hour: the ranch supplies honest reasons for proximity and exhaustion, and the good version lets the landscape do the talking the hero will not.
Written about a real couple, the trope rewards whichever of you shows love by doing rather than saying. The interview catches your version of the fixed fence (the tire pressure checked, the coffee made first) and the chapter builds a rancher out of it.
